Comprehensive insurance prices in Israel have dropped 25% from the peak recorded in the first quarter of 2025, according to the Wobi index for the third quarter of 2026. In the last quarter, a 4% decline was recorded, and over the past year, a cumulative decline of 13%. The decline is due to a halt in the rise of spare parts prices, a 20% drop in car thefts in the first half of the year, and regulatory pressure from the Capital Market Authority. However, repair costs at garages and material prices have risen, partially offsetting the decline. Among models, the Toyota C-HR recorded the sharpest decline (27%), followed by the Hyundai Ioniq and Chery Tiggo 7 (22% each). In contrast, the Hyundai Elantra became 18% more expensive and the Hyundai Sonata 5% more expensive. Third-party insurance prices remained stable, and the average gap between policies narrowed to about 2,000 shekels. Nadav Shreibman, head of research and analysis at Wobi, said that car owners who were undecided between comprehensive and third-party insurance may find it worthwhile to reconsider the option of comprehensive insurance.
