A Taiwanese comedian, Huang Yi-hao, was intentionally run over near his home after mocking Chinese President Xi Jinping and comparing him to Winnie the Pooh. A Taiwanese comedian, Huang Yi-hao, was intentionally run over near his home in New Taipei City on September 11, after mocking Chinese President Xi Jinping in his performances and comparing him to the character Winnie the Pooh. According to an indictment filed on Wednesday, a person from China identified by the alias "K" offered five men about $14,000 to seriously injure the comedian and prevent him from performing. The suspects tracked him for weeks, installed a GPS device on his scooter, and ran him over. Huang suffered a minor pelvic injury. The organizer refused to pay the remaining balance, claiming the injury was not severe enough. The comedian said he does not intend to stop performing. The report notes this is not the first attack against him: in May, bags of human feces were thrown at the comedy club where he performed. The Taiwanese prosecution described the incident as cross-border suppression.
