Keren's home in Ashkelon was completely burned down last March following the charging of a lithium battery. She was in the apartment with her husband and dog, heard a boom, tried to get the dog out through the window, and fainted. She was conscious for only a few minutes in the smoke-filled apartment. Afterwards, she underwent three months of rehabilitation in hyperbaric chambers. After the disaster, Keren met with the firefighters who saved her, her family, and her dog Lady. The firefighters warn against the danger of charging lithium batteries inside buildings and call for charging them outside the home. The meeting was seen as a closure for Keren and a reminder of their mission for the firefighters.
