Chairman of the Haredi Public Party: "The Haredim Need the IDF"

Moti Leitner, chairman of the Haredi Public Party, called at the "Choosing Education" conference for a change in the Haredi community's perception of responsibility toward the state and its security, stating that the Haredim need the IDF to protect the country's borders and Haredi cities.

Moti Leitner, chairman of the Haredi Public Party, called today (Monday) at the "Choosing Education" conference for a change in the Haredi community's perception of responsibility toward the state and its security. Leitner said that instead of focusing on whether the army needs the Haredim, the Haredi public should understand that it itself needs the IDF. "So that there will be someone to guard the borders, protect the Haredi cities and all the cities in the State of Israel, and to prevent another October 7th - we need the IDF," he said. Leitner also addressed the Haredim's role in the education system: "If we are 34% of first-grade students, in ten, twenty, or thirty years - we are the state." These remarks were made at a conference of the Forum of Education and Civil Society Organizations, attended by political representatives and education organizations.
