Car vs. Plane: The Police Chase That Spun Out of Control

A police chase in Arizona ended when a driver breached a barrier at an active airport and collided with a private plane. Two suspects were arrested, no injuries were reported. The FBI has opened an investigation.

A police chase in Arizona ended with a car crashing into a private plane at Scottsdale Airport. It began when officers noticed a black Dodge Challenger driving at an unusually slow speed of about 60 km/h on a road where the speed limit is around 105 km/h. The vehicle was linked to an investigation into an illegal street racing group. When officers tried to stop the driver, she refused to comply. Police attached a tracking device to the car and a helicopter followed from the air. At the airport, officers attempted to block the driver, but she reversed, collided with a police cruiser, accelerated forward, and breached a locked security gate. The car entered the active airport area, passed near aircraft, and crashed into a hangar door and an empty private plane. No injuries were reported, but damage was caused to the gate, hangar, and plane. Two suspects were arrested on suspicion of criminal offenses, and the FBI joined the investigation.
