Captivity of Aviva and Keith Siegel told onstage with love, humor, fear

Veteran actors Moni Moshonov and Sandra Sade performed a reading of 'Love at the Edge of the Tunnel' at Habima National Theater, portraying former hostages Keith and Aviva Siegel. The play recounts the couple's capture on October 7, 2023, their 51 days in captivity, and Keith's subsequent solitary confinement until his release in February 2025. The performance, staged on the eve of the third anniversary, blended humor, fear, and grief, and was followed by a discussion with the Siegels and the creative team.

Veteran actors Moni Moshonov and Sandra Sade, a real-life married couple, performed a reading of 'Love at the Edge of the Tunnel' at Habima National Theater in Tel Aviv, portraying former hostages Keith and Aviva Siegel. The nearly hourlong play, written by Michal Aharoni, begins with the Siegels' shopping trip on the evening of October 6, 2023, and moves through their capture from Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7, 2023, and their 51 days in captivity. After Aviva's release on November 21, 2023, the play covers Keith's solitary confinement until his release in February 2025. The performance, staged on the eve of the third anniversary of October 7, blended humor, fear, and grief, capturing the distinctive rhythms of the Siegels' speech. After a standing ovation, the Siegels, actors, playwright, and project initiator Eytan Schwartz gathered onstage. Schwartz hopes the successful performances will lead to a full production at Habima and international showings, as part of a project documenting October 7 through theater for public diplomacy.
