Saeed Ahmed, the brother of Sarit Ahmed, confessed to inciting others to shoot her and providing them with information about her travel on the day of the murder, and was sentenced to eight years in prison as part of a plea deal at the Haifa District Court. The deal was reached due to significant evidentiary difficulties, and the sentence will be counted from his arrest on July 9, 2023, so he may be released in about two years. Saeed was convicted of reduced charges of incitement to aggravated assault, causing death by negligence, and providing means to commit a crime. According to the amended indictment to which he confessed, he decided to harm his sister due to disagreement with her lifestyle and inability to control her. He incited Hisham Mureikhi and Shadi Abu Saria to shoot her, and they devised a plan to shoot her to death. On June 9, 2023, Saeed falsely told his sister they would go to a car lot, and informed the involved parties of her travel time. The shooters rammed her car into the guardrail and fired at least 11 bullets at her; six hit her and caused her death. The proceedings against Mureikhi and Abu Saria will continue separately, and both deny the allegations against them.
