Britain to citizens: Stock up on water and food for three days

The British government has recommended that citizens keep three days' worth of water and food as part of a new emergency preparedness campaign, following internet disruptions, heatwaves, and wildfires. The defense minister warned of growing cyber threats.

On Friday, the British government recommended that citizens keep bottled water and non-perishable food sufficient for three days in their homes, as part of a new emergency preparedness campaign. The recommendation was published under the "Be Prepared" campaign, aimed at encouraging the public to prepare for disruptions and emergencies. The government emphasized that recent internet disruptions, along with a record-breaking summer of heat, drought, and wildfires, highlighted the need for keeping basic supplies at home. Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Britain needs to act more proactively. Defense Minister Wes Streeting warned that cyber incidents are expected to become more frequent due to artificial intelligence, pointing to dangers from hostile states, criminal organizations, and climate change.
