Ben Gvir opposes proposal to form unity government: 'I hope Netanyahu doesn't abandon me'
Itamar Ben Gvir opposes the proposal to form a unity government, hopes Netanyahu will not abandon him, and claims the elections were stolen and must be repeated.
Itamar Ben Gvir, head of the Otzma Yehudit party, expressed opposition to the proposal to form a unity government in Israel, describing it as 'a government that will lead to stagnation.' In an interview with the Israeli public broadcaster Kan on Sunday, Ben Gvir said he is not enthusiastic about joining such a government and expressed hope that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not abandon him and Bezalel Smotrich. Ben Gvir added that he respects and appreciates Netanyahu and sometimes disagrees with him, which is natural among partners. Regarding the election results, Ben Gvir claimed they were 'stolen' and rigged, arguing that the head of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, erred and that the elections should be repeated. Ben Gvir also denied that violence is the solution, in response to a question about the possibility of Netanyahu supporters storming the Knesset. He further claimed that the head of the Yahad list, Naftali Bennett, and the head of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, Avigdor Lieberman, 'changed their skin' within one day regarding the Haredi conscription law, due to their agreement to include the Haredim.
