An indictment was filed at the Tiberias Magistrate's Court against Rani Rahamim, 35, from Afula, for attacking a psychiatrist and a social worker at a Clalit Health Services mental health clinic in Beit She'an. According to the indictment, Rahamim arrived at the clinic about two weeks ago equipped with a pipe wrench, struck the doctor in the head several times with it, and later tried to strangle him. Two social workers who heard the doctor's cries came to his aid, and during the struggle the defendant bit one of them on the finger. The psychiatrist was taken to HaEmek Medical Center in Afula suffering from a mild concussion, a bleeding scalp laceration, and abrasions, and was released after receiving treatment. Following the incident, the clinic staff announced the suspension of operations at the site. The commander of the Beit She'an police station, Deputy Chief Hadar Amar, described the incident as unusual and extreme, 'which could have ended much worse.' Additional tools, including screwdrivers and hammers, were found in the defendant's bag. Clalit Health Services condemned the attack and expressed 'zero tolerance for violence' against medical staff. The article also notes another violent incident at a clinic in Holon, where a couple of parents were arrested on suspicion of attacking a doctor and a secretary.
