It joins the A330-200 already in Arkia's fleet, increasing the number of wide-body aircraft available to the company. The move is part of Arkia's continued expansion in North America and long-haul destinations. The New York route has recently become one of the company's main routes, and the new aircraft is expected to serve it primarily. In total, Arkia operates between three and four wide-body aircraft depending on the season. Israir also operated its inaugural flight to New York last night, joining the competition for the destination.
