Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will host an unusual summit in Istanbul tomorrow, attended by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Britain, France, and Germany. The agenda will include the Strait of Hormuz, the wars in Yemen and Ukraine, and advancing the establishment of a Palestinian state. The summit takes place against the backdrop of a joint defense pact signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan in August in Mecca, under which an attack on one country would be considered an attack on all. A Turkish diplomatic source provided details to Reuters news agency. It was also reported that a ruling party parliamentarian said Ankara plans to seek parliamentary approval to send military personnel to Saudi Arabia, initially air defense and electronic warfare experts, who will not participate in offensive operations.
