"Amid the immense pain": Mother who lost her son on 10/7 sworn in as judge

Ingrid Har-Even, mother of the late Major Shilo Har-Even who fell in battle on October 7, was sworn in as a judge at the Jerusalem District Family Court after nearly three decades as a lawyer. Shilo, a company commander in Golani's 13th Battalion, fought for hours against terrorists at the Nahal Oz base, continued to command even after being wounded, and was recommended for the Medal of Valor.

Ingrid Har-Even, mother of the late Major Shilo Har-Even, was sworn in last week as a judge at the Jerusalem District Family Court, following a legal career of nearly three decades as a veteran lawyer. Her son, Shilo, served as a company commander in Golani's 13th Battalion and fell in battle at the Nahal Oz base on the morning of October 7. He lived in the community of Anatot, enlisted in the Egoz unit, and about two months before his fall took command of the operational company. On the morning of Simchat Torah, he led his soldiers into battle against hundreds of terrorists, killed dozens of them, and defended the Nahal Oz and Sa'ad sectors. Even after being wounded, he refused to evacuate and continued to command until he fell. Following the battle, he was recommended for the Medal of Valor. Head of the Binyamin Council, Israel Gantz, stated that amid the pain, Ingrid continues to an important role in the justice system.
