Americans' attitude toward Israel sharply worsens - alarming poll

A CNN poll has revealed a sharp decline in Americans' attitudes toward Israel: over the past year and a half, the share of those who consider Israel an ally dropped from 42% to 34%, while the share of those who view it as an enemy rose from 7% to 15%. The generational divide is particularly striking.

A CNN poll conducted in September 2026 recorded a sharp deterioration in Americans' attitudes toward Israel. According to the data, only 34% of respondents consider Israel an ally of the United States, while 15% perceive it as an enemy. Over the past year and a half, the share of Americans who consider Israel an ally fell by 8 percentage points (from 42% in March 2025), while the share of those who see it as an enemy more than doubled (from 7%). The generational divide is especially noticeable: among Americans aged 18–34, 24% consider Israel an ally and 22% an enemy; among respondents over 65, these figures are 59% and 5%, respectively. The poll also assessed attitudes toward Canada, whose trust levels also declined. Earlier, "Kursor" reported that YouGov polls among Democratic voters showed support for sanctions against Israel and a halt to arms supplies.
