Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani accused Israel, during a joint press conference with the director of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in Damascus, of supporting armed militias outside the law in the Suwayda province in southern Syria. Al-Shibani said that Israel provides these militias with weapons and money to carry out an agenda of chaos in the region. He added that the Israeli occupation has been trying to destabilize the Syrian interior since December 8, 2024, the date of the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime, until today. Al-Shibani explained that this is done through systematic bombing of infrastructure, occupation of new Syrian lands on the southern border, and practicing a policy of displacement and arbitrary arrests against Syrian citizens. He pointed out that the fate of dozens of Syrian citizens arrested by the Israeli occupation remains unknown. Al-Shibani called on the international community to intervene to stop Israeli practices in Syrian territory.
