Ahead of embassy opening in Congo: Round of appointments at Foreign Ministry

The Foreign Ministry Appointments Committee approved senior diplomatic appointments, including Sharon Bar-Li as ambassador to India, Ronit Nudelman Perl in Ghana, and Kobi Shoshani in Congo. The appointment in Congo is intended for the opening of the Israeli embassy in Kinshasa and the transfer of the Congolese embassy to Jerusalem.

The Foreign Ministry Appointments Committee for heads of missions abroad, chaired by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, approved today (Sunday) a series of senior diplomatic appointments. For the position of Israeli ambassador to New Delhi, and non-resident ambassador to Bhutan and Sri Lanka, Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li was appointed, who currently serves as Deputy Director General for the Africa Division and previously served as ambassador to Ghana and deputy ambassador to the UK. For the position of Israeli ambassador to Accra, and non-resident ambassador to Liberia and Sierra Leone, Ronit Nudelman Perl was appointed, who serves as a minister at the Europe Division and previously served as director of the Public Diplomacy Department and consul in Boston. For the position of resident Israeli ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kobi Shoshani was appointed, who currently serves as ambassador for Indian communities affairs at the North America Division and previously served as consul general in Mumbai and director of internal screening. The appointment was made following Minister Sa'ar's decision to open an Israeli embassy in Kinshasa, alongside the transfer of the Congolese embassy to Jerusalem, which will be the 11th country to maintain an embassy in Israel's capital.
