Again silencing voices: The Movement for Quality Government petitions against Channel 14

The Movement for Quality Government filed an urgent petition to the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, against Channel 14, alleging illegal election propaganda broadcast on voting day. The movement demands the removal of the messages from the broadcast and digital platforms.

The Movement for Quality Government filed an urgent petition to the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, against Channel 14. According to the movement, during election day, political messages identified with the Likud campaign were broadcast on the channel, including the message: "The left and the Arabs are storming the polling stations." The petition claims that broadcasting these messages violates the law prohibiting election propaganda on voting day. The movement demands their removal from the broadcast and digital platforms. This is not the first petition in the current election campaign; days earlier, Judge Solberg summarily dismissed a petition seeking to prevent the channel from broadcasting news and current affairs programs featuring candidates from Likud, Religious Zionism, and Otzma Yehudit. The new petition is also filed against the backdrop of explicit threats by Yair Golan, chairman of the Democrats, who stated that if he comes to power, he will work to shut down Channel 14.
