After the harsh accusations: Eisenkot meets with the bereaved father

Yashar party chairman Gadi Eisenkot met with Yossi and Orly Cohen, parents of the late Amit who was murdered at the Nova festival. Cohen apologized for calling Eisenkot a "traitor" and accusing him of "killing your own son." Eisenkot accepted the apology and withdrew the police complaint.

Yashar party chairman Gadi Eisenkot met yesterday (Wednesday) with Yossi and Orly Cohen, parents of the late Amit who was murdered in the Nova massacre. The meeting took place at Yossi Cohen's request, who apologized for harsh words he had directed at Eisenkot and his family during a protest outside their home. Days earlier, Cohen had called Eisenkot a "traitor" and accused him of "killing your own son," referring to Eisenkot's son, the late Gal, who fell in battle in Gaza. Eisenkot accepted the apology and ordered the police complaint against Cohen to be withdrawn. In footage released, Cohen said he had directed "harsh and terrible things" at Eisenkot and his family, and apologized to the late Gal, Hana, and Gadi. Eisenkot wrote that he agreed to meet out of understanding that "even in the eye of the storm... we must not stop seeing the person before us," adding that "behind these words stands a bereaved father carrying unfathomable, unimaginable pain."
