Brig. Gen. (res.) Oren Solomon warned today (Thursday) in an interview with the program "The Open Studio" on Channel 14 of a possible preemptive Iranian attack against Israel ahead of the Knesset elections. Solomon emphasized that the IDF must prepare for such a scenario both defensively and offensively. According to him, alongside economic and political considerations in the US, a process of lessons learned and operational readiness is taking place on both sides. Solomon also addressed the continued digging of tunnels by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, warning that the organization is rehabilitating defensive and offensive underground infrastructure. He criticized statements without a practical plan, referring to Gadi Eisenkot's declaration about toppling Hamas rule within 18 months. Towards the end of the interview, Solomon confirmed that talks are underway with the Prime Minister's Office regarding the publication of the October 7 investigations he conducted, which he claims point to the responsibility of senior IDF commanders for the failure. He called for the findings to be disclosed to the public despite possible political criticism ahead of the elections.
