A single phone call from the kindergarten teacher likely saved the life of a one-year-old toddler, who was forgotten in a car at the Yavne train station parking lot and was rescued safely. The teacher called the mother this morning (Tuesday) to ask why her son had not arrived at the daycare. The mother realized she had left him in the car at the train station parking lot, from where she had gone to her workplace in the center. At 9:25 AM, the mother called the police emergency hotline 100 and reported that the toddler had been in the car for about an hour and a half. Officers Chief Inspector Yossi Zecharia and Chief Inspector Lin Bahumi from the Yavne police patrol rushed to the train station parking lot, located the car, shattered the window, and pulled out the toddler. United Hatzalah medics who arrived at the scene along with the police took the toddler, who appeared to have been crying heavily. He was slightly dehydrated and sweating and was given water. The mother was called back to the car, but eventually the toddler's grandparents arrived at the scene and took responsibility for him. The parents requested not to evacuate him to the hospital, after Magen David Adom personnel determined that evacuation was unnecessary. Nati Dahan, a medic from United Hatzalah, noted that it was fortunate the weather this morning was pleasant.
