94% of Gaza Residents Need Shelter Aid

UNRWA confirmed that 94% of Gaza's population needs shelter and non-food aid, with 58% facing critical conditions, as the Civil Defense warns of a storm threatening tents and dilapidated homes with flooding.

UNRWA confirmed that 94% of Gaza's population, approximately 1.98 million people, are in urgent need of shelter and non-food assistance, according to surveys conducted between June 14 and 28, 2026. The agency noted that 58% of residents face critical or catastrophic shelter needs, with a severe shortage of basic services. It warned that continued conditions expose people to serious risks to their health, safety, and dignity. This assessment coincides with a warning from the Palestinian Civil Defense about a storm on Friday accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds, threatening displaced people in tents, shelters, and families living in dilapidated homes. Previous data from the Government Media Office from August 2026 indicates over 1.15 million displaced, including about 867,000 in worn-out tents and over a million in shelters.
