8 days to elections: PM Netanyahu in a special interview with Yehuda Schlesinger

PM Netanyahu was interviewed on Channel 14 and warned of an Iranian attempt to influence the elections through attacks. He clarified that he did not know in advance about Trump's announcement, attacked Eisenkot, and rejected claims of a quid pro quo for the president's support.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was interviewed this evening (Monday) by Yehuda Schlesinger on the program "Sheva" on Channel 14, eight days before the elections. Netanyahu warned of a security escalation and claimed that Iran and its proxies are trying to carry out attacks against Israel in order to influence the voting results. According to him, this is a "desperate attempt" by Tehran, which wants him to lose because of his determination to continue the fight against the regime. He emphasized that he instructed the security establishment to work to topple the regime in Tehran. Regarding the statement of support from US President Donald Trump, Netanyahu clarified that the declaration surprised even him, and that he recorded an improvised thank-you video. He strongly rejected claims of any quid pro quo given by Israel in return. Netanyahu harshly attacked Yashar! chairman Gadi Eisenkot, and told of his offer to Ofer Winter to join the right-wing parties. He presented his position regarding the possibility of forming a unity government after the elections.
