Brig. Gen. (res.) Ram Aminach, former economic advisor to the IDF Chief of Staff, estimates in an interview with 103FM that President Trump will indeed halt security aid to Israel, although no formal order has been issued yet. According to him, the discussion is not about Israel's ability to manage without it, but about the scale of resources it will have to allocate instead. Aminach notes that 12 billion shekels a year is equivalent to building three hospitals annually, and translates this to 430 shekels per month for every family in Israel. He warns that the aid cutoff will require the IDF to become more efficient while maintaining operational readiness, and will increase the need for defense autarky – expanding stockpiles and local production. However, he notes that this may lead to more significant procurement from Israeli defense industries.
