The Israeli occupation army continues a suffocating siege on about 47 families in the Khirbet Ras al-Ahmar area, southeast of Tubas, for 30 days, by cutting off water and preventing the entry of supplies through digging a trench and a military road, leading to livestock deaths and depriving residents of food, healthcare, and education.
The Israeli occupation army continues a suffocating siege on about 47 families in Khirbet Ras al-Ahmar, southeast of Tubas in the northern Jordan Valley, for 30 days. The occupation cut off water lines and dug a trench three meters deep and wide next to a newly paved military road to prevent water and fodder trucks from entering. Only one military gate was left to control entry and exit. Residents are forced to walk four kilometers to obtain drinking water. A number of newborns and sheep have died of thirst, including seven sheep belonging to one resident. 51 students from the area are cut off from education, some for about twenty days. An Israeli court issued a decision to open the gate, but it was not implemented. Activist Dargham Bisharat says the occupation has confiscated about 70% of the area's land since 2000, and established an outpost on Jabal Umm al-Kabish that confiscated 17,000 dunams. Residents describe the situation as aimed at pushing them to leave in preparation for expanding pastoral settlement.
