Twenty-one years after the disengagement plan, the Samaria Regional Council is launching a new community called 'Shalem' near Elon Moreh. The founding families moved into their homes this morning (Monday), and an official ceremony is expected at noon with the participation of ministers, Knesset members, and council head Yossi Dagan. The community is the ninth under the 'Connection Plan', which aims to establish 19 new communities in northern Samaria. Dagan said: '21 years ago they destroyed and expelled us, today we have returned.' Residents expressed excitement and linked the location to the biblical heritage of the patriarch Jacob in the Shechem area.
