Your life in WhatsApp groups? The new upgrades you should know about

WhatsApp is rolling out four new group management features: unlimited message pinning, sending chat history to new members, a smart mention filter, and a dedicated group status. The updates are being gradually deployed on Android and iPhone.

The messaging app WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is launching four new management features for group chats. The main upgrade allows pinning messages indefinitely, replacing the previous 24-hour, week, or month limit. Another feature lets admins send recent message history to new members even after they join, while maintaining full end-to-end encryption. A smart chat filter will show only groups where the user is directly tagged, replied to, or mentioned in a group tag. Additionally, a group status is being introduced, allowing sharing of photos, videos, and updates visible only to group members, which disappear automatically after 24 hours. The updates are being gradually deployed on Android and Apple devices.
