Yaakov Asher against Eisenkot: "The meeting would have ended after 4 minutes"

MK Yaakov Asher (United Torah Judaism) attacked Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot over his remarks on the conscription law. Asher claimed that if Eisenkot had presented the tough positions he voiced in an interview during his meeting with Moshe Gafni, the meeting would have ended in 4 minutes instead of lasting over 40 minutes. Asher also compared the sanctions against the Haredi community to the treatment of families of terrorists.

MK Yaakov Asher (United Torah Judaism) attacked today (Wednesday) the chairman of the Yashar party, Gadi Eisenkot, following his remarks on the conscription law. Asher claimed that if Eisenkot had presented the tough positions he voiced in an interview on 103FM during his meeting with Moshe Gafni, the meeting would have ended in 4 minutes instead of lasting over 40 minutes. Eisenkot stated in the interview that he would be "the toughest person on the conscription law" and even clarified that he would be willing to go to additional elections if necessary. According to him, a senior Haredi representative approached him in the past year to examine his positions, and he made it clear that he demands conscription for all. Later, Asher attacked the sanctions against the Haredi public and compared them to the treatment of families of terrorists, arguing that while the legal counsel was careful to prevent collective punishment against families of terrorists, against the Haredim "suddenly everything is permitted." The meeting between Eisenkot and Gafni was revealed months ago and sparked an uproar in the opposition. Eisenkot claimed that he is working to shorten the life of the right-wing government. Asher replaced Gafni as head of Degel HaTorah last September.
