Where the Flydubai pilot-terrorist prepared for the attack - assessment
The Flydubai co-pilot who attempted to hijack the plane underwent radicalization in Australia ten years before the incident. He attended a mosque at RMIT University in Melbourne, linked to the My Centre Islamic center, led by preacher Abu Hamza, known for antisemitic remarks.
The day after the attempted terror attack on a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, it emerged that the Omani co-pilot, Hamam al-Hamami, underwent a course of Islamic radicalization. According to a statement by the UAE Attorney General, his radicalization began nearly ten years ago in Australia, long before his trips to Syria. Al-Hamami lived in Australia from 2015 to 2017 and during his studies in Melbourne regularly attended a mosque associated with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), where he met people linked to the My Centre Islamic center. This center is headed by Samir Mohtadi, known as Abu Hamza, a preacher who in his speeches insultingly referred to "Zionists" as "scavengers" and "bloodsuckers," and also claimed that Australia is waging a war against Islam. It was previously reported that the pilot intended to hijack the airliner and crash it into one of the terminals at Ben Gurion Airport.
