Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stated in an interview with Bloomberg that Egypt is ready to provide military assistance to Saudi Arabia, including the possibility of joining the regional defense alliance that includes Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. The statement comes amid a wave of severe Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia. On Saturday, 13 people were killed and more than 300 wounded in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The following day, the airport complex was hit again, and in recent days additional missiles and drones have been launched toward Saudi Arabia. Egypt has already joined Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan this week in a joint statement by the R4 group, which condemned the attacks and expressed full support for Saudi Arabia's measures. Alongside the readiness for military assistance, Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt continues to promote a political solution and demanded that Iran immediately cease the Houthi attacks. As of the time of publication, no actual deployment of Egyptian forces in Saudi Arabia has been reported.
