Director Spike Lee, one of Hollywood's most renowned filmmakers, was involved in a physical altercation with a fan at a restaurant in New York's Yankee Stadium shortly before a game. The fan loudly asked Lee, 'Mr. Lee, what do you think about Palestine?' Lee, 69, stood up and lunged at him, shouting, 'Why are you trying to start with me?!' Staff restrained Lee, and the venue manager ordered the fan to leave. The video, published by journalist Andy Slater, went viral and garnered millions of views. Online reactions were mixed: some condemned Lee's outburst and called for his suspension, while others supported him, arguing the fan had provoked him unnecessarily. The incident joins a series of previous controversies involving Lee, including a storm during an All-Star event.
