Eran Peleg, a former Israeli Air Force fighter pilot with the rank of lieutenant colonel (res.) and a 75-year-old high-tech entrepreneur from Kfar Saba, was killed yesterday (Friday) in a light plane crash near Kafr Qara in Wadi Ara. Another man, 33, was moderately injured. The two took off from the Megiddo airstrip in the north, and during the flight a malfunction occurred that led to the crash. The plane crashed in an open area and caught fire; the fire spread to a nearby grove but was extinguished. Peleg served as a flight instructor at the "Sky Flight" school. In his past he was a fighter pilot, and later turned to the world of technology. In 2020, together with Iyad Badr, an Arkia pilot, he founded "Metafor," a model-driven development company based in Hurfeish that employed seven people. Peleg then spoke about the aspiration to create a high-tech employment hub in the Druze periphery. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police and the Civil Aviation Authority.
