Discord will expose messages from public servers in Google search results. In Israel, the feature will be enabled by default, unlike in Europe. Users can disable the setting in their privacy settings.

Discord is announcing a dramatic policy change: messages from public servers will be exposed in Google search results. The change will apply to 'discoverable' servers – large public communities with over 1,000 members that have been active for more than eight weeks, affecting more than 63,000 servers worldwide. Starting mid-next month, servers will receive public web pages with AI-based conversation summaries, and about a month later, search engines will begin indexing selected text messages. The key consumer gap: in countries with strict privacy laws (the European Union, UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and South Korea), the feature will be off by default, but in Israel (similar to the US) it will be automatically enabled. Users can disable the setting in User Settings > Data & Privacy. Disabling only protects future messages and does not retroactively delete already indexed messages. The move stems from a financial interest to compete with Reddit and feed smart search engines and AI models. Private servers and personal conversations will remain protected.
