US officials plan to travel to Norway for Ukraine talks, sources say
US officials Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff plan to travel to Norway this week for negotiations on ending the Ukraine-Russia war, according to three anonymous sources. Ukrainian President Zelensky may attend. The talks come amid increased US-Ukraine tensions over Ukraine's allegations of reduced Starshield satellite speed and delayed weapons deliveries.
US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff are set to travel to Norway this week for the next round of negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine, according to three people familiar with the matter. Two of the people said they expected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to attend the meetings. The schedule is tentative and could change. The talks come amid increased tensions between Washington and Kyiv. Ukraine alleges that the speed of its Starshield military-grade satellite system, owned by SpaceX, was reduced by a US policy decision, and that the US has limited intelligence sharing and delayed delivery of Patriot air defense missiles for which other countries paid. Zelensky said in a video that this suggests a political decision to slow support. One source said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has yet to authorize delivery of the latest package of US weaponry purchased by NATO allies. US officials have denied Ukraine's allegations. Trump accused Zelensky of refusing to hold peace talks and suggested Ukraine get someone else to negotiate.
