US House Speaker Mike Johnson praised Israel's designation of Highway 60 as the 'Biblical Highway,' calling it a testament to the Jewish people's ancient heritage. The Israeli government approved the initiative months earlier, with a ceremony held in June. The highway runs through the West Bank, connecting biblical sites, and the project aims to attract international tourism.

US House Speaker Mike Johnson has praised Israel's decision to designate Highway 60 as the 'Biblical Highway,' describing the road as a powerful symbol of the Jewish people's ancient connection to the Land of Israel. In a letter sent by his office, Johnson compared the highway to Route 66 in the US, saying it would remind people of faith of the journey of the children of Israel. The Israeli government approved the initiative months earlier, advanced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Transportation Minister Miri Regev. A ceremony marking the designation was held in June, attended by Netanyahu, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, Regev, Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, and other officials. Highway 60 is a major north-south artery running along the West Bank, connecting biblical sites such as Jerusalem, Hebron, Bethlehem, Beit El, and Shiloh. The project aims to develop the road as an international tourism, heritage, and educational destination, with funding allocated for signage changes and archaeological preservation. Johnson's endorsement adds a significant voice from US political leadership to the initiative.
