US disables commercial vessel in Gulf of Oman for breaching Iran blockade
US Central Command disabled a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman after it ignored warnings and attempted to breach the naval blockade on Iran. Reports also mention explosions in southern Iran, but their cause is unconfirmed.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that its forces attacked and disabled a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman. The incident occurred after the civilian crew of the ship, M/V Huda, registered in St. Kitts, attempted to violate the naval blockade imposed on Iran and ignored repeated warnings. A US military aircraft fired precision munitions at the ship's bow, after the crew evacuated the targeted areas, in order to prevent loss of life. The vessel attempted to leave territorial waters after docking at an Iranian port. The operation was carried out as part of enforcing international sanctions against Tehran in the Persian Gulf region.
