Up to 1,500 right-wing activists, some armed: the fear of a Capitol scenario in the Knesset

The 'Iron Wall for Democracy' forum, comprising 168 former IDF chiefs of staff, police commissioners, and heads of security agencies, warns of an attempt to disrupt the swearing-in of the 26th Knesset, similar to the US Capitol events. Their warning letter states that up to 1,500 right-wing activists, some armed, may arrive at the Knesset and prevent MKs from entering.

The 'Iron Wall for Democracy' forum, which includes 168 former IDF chiefs of staff, police commissioners, and heads of the Mossad and Shin Bet, published a warning letter cautioning against an attempt to disrupt the swearing-in of the 26th Knesset and prevent the replacement of Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. The letter states that online discourse indicates that elements opposing the speaker's replacement intend to arrive at the Knesset on inauguration day and block MKs and their families from entering. It also notes that there are calls for counter-mobilization to allow MKs entry, and that a confrontation between the two sides could lead to violent clashes. A forum member said the intelligence speaks of hundreds to 1,500 right-wing activists, some armed, and demanded that the police and Shin Bet prepare with the necessary forces and means.
