The dean of the University of Toronto's faculty of dentistry has stepped down after an investigation found he used antisemitic imagery in a February lecture. He will remain a tenured staff member. The investigation concluded he did not intend to promote antisemitism.
The dean of the faculty of dentistry at the University of Toronto, Anil Kishen, has stepped down following an investigation into his use of antisemitic imagery during a lecture in February. Trevor Young, the university's vice president and provost, confirmed the resignation in a November 5 letter. The investigation found that Kishen did not intend to promote antisemitism and had limited knowledge of antisemitic tropes, but the slides contained antisemitic imagery. The Jewish advocacy organization B'nai Brith Canada shared images from the lecture, including one of a figure bound with rope and another of a man with a hooked nose swimming in money. Kishen has undergone antisemitism training and will remain a tenured faculty member.
