The United Nations announced that settler attacks on Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season in the occupied West Bank have exceeded 200 attacks, surpassing the total of 185 attacks recorded during last year's season. These attacks resulted in the death of a Palestinian and injuries to over 120 others, and damage to more than 2,500 olive trees and seedlings. Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, noted that about 80% of the incidents occurred in the past two weeks. He added that the UN provides agricultural aid and monitors occupation restrictions on farmers' access to their orchards, especially those near settlements or behind the wall. In Gaza, Haq pointed out that occupation restrictions on the entry of agricultural equipment hinder farming, harvesting, and the operation of olive presses. He also called for the protection of humanitarian workers following reports of Israeli gunfire and shelling near UN facilities and a convoy, with no reports of casualties.
