At the global Chabad emissaries conference in New York, ZAKA and Chabad announced the establishment of a joint international emergency unit. The unit is intended to bridge the gap between the deployment of Chabad emissaries around the world and the operational experience of ZAKA, recognized as an official body in the UN. The emissaries will undergo rescue training and receive operational backup from ZAKA personnel, including the dispatch of professionals and equipment to any scene worldwide. ZAKA CEO Dovi Weissenstern said the collaboration will enable reaching every Jew anywhere in the world. The organization notes that the move is expected to change the map of international mutual aid for Jewish communities.
