A tripartite military meeting is taking place in Tampa, Florida, with the participation of a Lebanese military delegation and representatives from the United States and Israel, to discuss Lebanese demands for a halt to Israeli escalation in Lebanon. The meeting comes amid hopes that it will yield results consistent with the provisions of the framework agreement, according to a statement from the Lebanese presidency. The US embassy quoted a US official as saying that the discussions in Tampa will be limited to a practical meeting focused on the security dimension of the tripartite framework. In this context, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed that Israel has not adhered to the framework formula, noting that southern Lebanon remains subject to daily violations, and stressed that the continuation of these violations will not lead to any result, but will increase the Lebanese people's attachment to their land and rights. Aoun's remarks came during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Elaraby, which coincided with diplomatic activity including a visit by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, as part of efforts to contain the escalation. Meanwhile, Israeli military operations continue in southern Lebanon, alongside Israel raising its state of alert on its northern front.
