Yogev came to Greece as a tourist and set out to conquer Olympus. Before starting the ascent, he maintained contact with his family and informed his mother of the beginning of the climb, after which communication was lost. Local rescue services, as well as numerous volunteers from Israel, joined the search. On the morning of Friday, October 9, volunteers from the organization "Haverim Mechaltzim" discovered his body with no signs of life. The victim's mother, Shosh Debi, told the mako publication about the difficulties the family faced. According to her, relatives could not obtain enough information about the progress of the search. She also expressed outrage that no funding is allocated for such cases and criticized the distribution of resources by the authorities amid the upcoming elections.
