Ariel University yesterday (Wednesday) inaugurated the six-year track at the Adelson School of Medicine, with 80 students beginning their studies. The new track joins the four-year program operating since 2019, which currently has 400 students. The event was attended by Prof. Miriam Adelson, university president Prof. Ehud Grossman, Education Minister Yoav Kisch, and Ministry of Health Director General Moshe Bar Siman Tov. Adelson said: "Ariel is a very important place for advancing the State of Israel. When I was offered to establish a medical school here, I was very happy for the opportunity to be part of this vision." Prof. Grossman noted that this is a unique model combining advanced clinical teaching from the early stages. According to the Council for Higher Education forecast, about 1,560 students began studying in medical faculties in the 2026/27 academic year, a 12% increase over the previous year, with a target of about 1,700 beginners next year. The article notes that the opening of the track is intended to help address the shortage of doctors in Israel.
