The Saudi dilemma that could change relations with Israel
Lt. Col. (res.) Amit Yagur warns of the escalating internal crisis in Iran, which is barely covered due to a lack of reports from the regime. Meanwhile, he addresses the escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis and assesses that the growing threat to the kingdom could lead to a shift in its relations with Israel, presenting the dilemma facing Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Lt. Col. (res.) Amit Yagur was interviewed on the program "Israel This Morning" and warned of the escalating internal crisis in Iran, including economic and social deterioration. According to him, events in various regions of the country, including the southeast and Khorasan, are barely covered due to a lack of reports from the regime. Yagur was asked whether Iran might launch a military operation in the coming weeks amid regional tensions and elections in Israel and the US, and clarified that it is difficult to assess how Tehran will act, but it is already employing deterrent measures. Meanwhile, he addressed the escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis and assessed that the attacks on the kingdom could lead to a change in its relations with Israel. According to him, since October 7, normalization with Israel has raised concerns within the Saudi leadership, but now Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman faces a dilemma: whether to continue distancing from Israel or consider security cooperation against the threat.
