A bronze statue of Marwan Barghouti, a senior Fatah figure serving five life sentences in Israel for involvement in the murder of five people in terrorist attacks, was placed on the roof of 'Palestine House' on High Holborn Street in the Camden Borough of central London. A giant Palestinian flag hangs from the building. The Camden Borough Council is examining the legality of the placement following a complaint filed by the pro-Israeli British lawyers' organization UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI). The statue depicts Barghouti with his cuffed hands raised above his head and his fingers forming a V for victory. 'Palestine House' is a Palestinian cultural and community center founded by Osama Kasho, a Palestinian filmmaker and activist. This is not the first time the venue has been involved with the planning department. The UKLFI organization claims that the statue and its base do not appear in the building plans approved in July 2025, and that the building is in a conservation area. The organization criticizes the council's conduct and calls its failure to enforce the law a 'disgrace'.
