Residents of Rishon LeZion suffered this week from a pungent odor that lasted for days, with some requiring medical treatment for eye irritation and breathing difficulties. Crime reporter Li Aish revealed tonight (Saturday) in the weekend magazine security camera footage that incriminated the sewage truck driver who dumped hazardous material into the sewer system. The footage shows the truck entering a narrow path near a sewer opening and leaving about half an hour later; two hours later the smell began to spread. Investigators from the Rishon LeZion police station traced the footage and reached the suspect, a resident of the Shfela region in his 50s, who confessed to the act. He was released to house arrest under restrictive conditions, including being banned from Rishon LeZion, and the investigation continues.
