Tusk made the remarks before a meeting of his government in Warsaw, clarifying that the government and security forces are focused on preventing the threat from spreading into Polish territory. His warning is not the first: in a session of the Polish parliament on September 17, Tusk presented intelligence assessments indicating that Russia may strike border crossings and transport infrastructure connecting Poland and Ukraine, aiming to disrupt the transfer of military and civilian aid to Kyiv. Tusk warned that late autumn and winter will be the most critical period of the war so far, and that the Russians have begun using new jet-powered drones on a large scale, flying at high speed and altitude, complicating air defense systems. He expressed concern that damage to border crossings would prevent Poland from delivering generators, fuel, and other essential equipment to Ukraine during the winter.
