The elections have moved to TikTok: who explains to young people what the parties really offer

Content creators on TikTok and Instagram have taken on the role of virtual election guides for young people. They explain what a mandate is, how to form a coalition, and what is actually written in the party platforms, while maintaining neutrality. Lucille Blackerman and Ido Eretz are among the creators making complex political information accessible to a young audience that feels lost amid the flood of propaganda.

Ahead of the 2026 elections, Israeli content creators have taken on a new role: virtual guide for the young voter. Lucille Blackerman, a content creator who began her journey during the cost-of-living protest, explains in short videos what is actually written in the party platforms. She emphasizes that no one pays her for the videos, and she invests days and nights in them. The channel "Yomi_news" with 161,000 followers on TikTok and 37,400 on Instagram, uploads videos explaining what a mandate is, how to form a coalition, and what you need to know before arriving at the polling station. Ido Eretz, another content creator, focuses on presenting policy instead of an 'us versus them' discourse. He explains that he prefers to focus on what the government has actually done, especially on economic issues and structural problems like integrating the Haredi society into the economy. The creators emphasize the need for neutrality and the importance of making complex political information accessible to a young audience that feels lost amid the flood of propaganda and slogans.
