Storm causes flooding, rescues across central Israel
A severe storm on Saturday caused flooding and damage across central Israel, with 117 mm of rain recorded in Kadima Tzoran in 75 minutes. Firefighters rescued people from a flooded underground parking lot in Ramat Gan and a home in Jerusalem. A Tesla with a family stopped autonomously before a tree fell on Route 516 near Moshav Tzur Moshe.
In the stormy weather that hit Israel today (Saturday), a Tesla carrying five family members from Jaffa was stopped at the last second by its autonomous system, just before a tree collapsed on the road near Moshav Tzur Moshe in the Sharon region. The father told ynet that the rain was so heavy they had pulled over a few minutes earlier, and that both he and the car pressed the brake together. Meanwhile, firefighters were called to rescue people from an underground parking lot that flooded in Ramat Gan, nearly seven years after the elevator disaster in Tel Aviv. The 102 emergency center received dozens of calls about flooding on streets and in homes in Netanya, Kadima Tzoran, Even Yehuda, Ashdod, and Jerusalem, where a woman and her dog were rescued from a flooded home. In Moshav Kadima, a rainfall record of 117 mm was measured in an hour and a quarter, the most extreme in November since 2020. Two lanes were closed on the Ayalon Highway due to a crack in the road caused by a drainage problem. The forecast for the rest: rain and thunderstorms will continue until Sunday afternoon, with a risk of local flooding.
