Ten killed in attacks in Afghanistan: "Stop harming civilians"
The UN mission in Afghanistan reports ten civilians killed, most of them children, in airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand provinces. The UN calls for de-escalation and respect for international law, amid a wave of violence that has claimed over 1,100 civilian casualties since the beginning of the year.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that at least ten civilians, most of them children, were killed in airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand provinces. The strikes were carried out as part of cross-border military activity. Nine others were wounded. The UN confirmed the details and called on the parties involved to promote dialogue and respect international law to prevent further harm to innocents. The incident adds to a series of similar events in the border area in recent months. Just last week, on September 21, three civilians were killed and four wounded in an airstrike in Kunar province. Since the beginning of 2026, the UN has documented more than 1,100 civilians killed or wounded as a result of cross-border military violence across Afghanistan. UN representatives called for de-escalation and prevention of further harm to civilians.
