A former New Jersey teacher pleaded guilty to a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student, during which she gave birth to a daughter. The former student insists he initiated the relationship and opposes the prison sentence she faces.

A former New Jersey teacher, Laura Caron (36), pleaded guilty to a sexual relationship with a minor student that began when he was 11 and resulted in the birth of a daughter when he was 13. Caron, who taught at Middle Township Elementary School, grew close to the student's family and even hosted him and his brother at her home. The relationship lasted from 2016 to 2020, during which a daughter was born. The case came to light in December 2024 after the boy's father noticed a resemblance between Caron's daughter and himself. Caron pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal and faces five years in prison, revocation of her teaching license, and a ban on public employment. The former student, now 19, continues to defend her and claims he initiated the relationship. Sentencing is set for January 8, 2027.
